A Journey to Weight Loss Redemption | Part Two

Have you ever had a day where you are just sick and tired of being sick and tired? For me, that day was in the summer of 1979. I had tried every fad diet, trick, pill and magic potion to last me a lifetime – and with no success.

The day I knew I needed help my grandparents were visiting. My mom sent me to the local grocery store for donuts for my grandparents. After buying a dozen glazed donuts, I went back to my car (keep in mind the store was TWO BLOCKS from my house-why didn’t I walk??) and proceeded to eat all but one of the donuts in my car. I cannot tell you how miserable I felt – emotionally and physically. And I also had to take the ‘walk of shame’ and go in and buy more donuts! I decided at that moment that I couldn’t do this on my own.

When I came back from college that summer, I noticed how much weight my mom had lost. Keep in mind that I had never seen her be successful in losing weight, though I had seen her efforts over the years. Of course, I wanted to know how she did it and she told me that our neighbor had started a franchise called ‘Diet Center’ and how much the program had helped her. I decided right then and there to call and schedule an appointment. It’s one of the best decisions I have ever made for myself. I went for my consultation that afternoon and started the next day.

This program has been a part of my life – both professionally and personally since 1979 – and I honestly think I would weigh at least 60 lbs. more if I hadn’t made the commitment that day. Professionally, it has allowed me to be of service to others, support my family and come to work to a job I love. And the story continues….
